DRYING MODE FIVE: PRESSURE HEAT and VACUUM COOL - Two Zone (E or A Models)

Pressure Heat / Vacuum Cool - Two Zone mode is possible with SQE and SQA models only. It is slightly more efficient than Full Heat mode, as it reclaims energy from the cooling process. The energy savings is dependent on how much the grain is cooled. There is a trade-off between Dryer efficiency and the overall process. If the shutters (also called Free Air Inlets or Louvers; see Figure 74) are closed, the air pulled through the grain increases and the efficiency of the Dryer improves. However, it is at the expense of the overall system efficiency, as the expelling of moisture stops when the grain reaches ambient temperature. The maximum exit grain temperature permissible is dependent on bin aeration. The best overall efficiency is attained with a partial cool and the shutters wide open, discharging at higher moisture content. This improves the grain quality and Dryer capacity as well. Pressure Heat / Vacuum Cool requires less management, as less moisture is removed in the bin and it is easier to test moistures and predict final moistures. Rollover info balloons.

Plenum Divider Block Plates: These are 24'' [610]channels which are below the Plenum Floor against the inner perforated grain column. These prevent heated, drying air from short-circulating around the edge of the Floor during suction-cooling.
