Sampling Grain
Obtain a uniform grain sample by obtaining eight (8) 1-cup [237 mL] samples of grain at fifteen (15)-second intervals. Mix the collected samples for an accurate test. Always take samples of both incoming and outgoing grain. Follow specific directions in your SPECTRUM® or QUANTUM® Controller Supplemental Manual. Replace all covers when finished.

Drying Temperatures
Excessive drying temperatures can cause grain damage and increase the risk of fire. Thermal shock results from flash cooling. Stress cracks increase with thermal shock; starch extraction values for milling are lost with excessive kernel temperature. Energy efficiency increases with plenum temperature, therefore a balance must be determined.
QUANTUM®-equipped Dryers include a capacity-versus-quality feature that utilizes a maximum drying temperature and the incoming moisture value to determine the Plenum temperature. SPECTRUM®-equipped Dryers require manual input from the Operator.
