Starting the Dryer

  1.  At the beginning of each drying season, perform the “Safety System Checkout” to ensure proper operation of all safety-related controls.
  2. Perform all items under “Checkout and Adjustments” on page 61.
  3. Close the Plenum Access Door and make sure all removable service and safety Guards and Covers and in place.

  4. Turn on the Service Light Switch at least one hour prior to daily startup (or leave on overnight) if the outside temperature is below 32 degrees F to keep the electrical control circuit components from condensation.
  5. Slowly open the gas valve at the LP tank or natural gas supply line to its full open position. This is especially important with LP gas to keep from “flashing” or freezing the line as the liquid propane expands from the highly pressurized tank into the unpressurized fuel line.
  6. Wherever the Service Disconnect is for your facility, turn power ON. Turn the Dryer Disconnect Circuit Breaker to ON. The POWER ON light (optional) will come on.
  7. Before restarting a Dryer that has been stopped because of an emergency, an inspection of the Dryer shall be made and the cause of the stoppage determined. The starting device shall be locked or tagged out before any attempt is made to remove the cause of the stoppage.

Plenum Access Door Closed

Do not allow the Dryer to run while any adjustments are being made. Failure to shut it off will lead to personal injury or death. Disconnect electrical power BEFORE inspecting or servicing equipment unless maintenance instructions specifically state otherwise. Failure to do so will result in death or serious injury.

Stopping the Dryer

Lock the Control Panel doors.

Do not leave grain in the Dryer for long periods of time, or during wet weather. Failure to follow this instruction may cause the grain to expand and swell and damage the Basket.
